KG held varied global IT leadership positions at FMCG giant Unilever for decades and subsequently at Healthcare leader Johnson & Johnson. Served as VP IT, CIO for South Asia / Africa and Global VP IT for Networking and Telecommunication at Unilever. At J&J, he was the CIO for Asia Pacific. He was also a Member of Asia Pacific Business Board for J&J Medicals and a Member of Global IT Leadership Teams at Unilever and Johnson & Johnson. He has led business transformation exercises using technology, renegotiated global contracts, set up shared service facilities and developed IT Teams.

Leadership is in pioneering a model and transforming it into a “Centre of Excellence”. That’s Balu’s calling. He established the Technology Center to provide IT, Engineering and other IT Enabled Services for Ford. Also implemented innovative best-of-breed solutions for operations for Ford, in India and other Asian markets. At Pfizer, he set up the IT Solution Center for the Pfizer to support their global IT programs.
He also held key roles in defining the IT Strategy in Beverages and Foods businesses of Unilever in India. Moving on to TVS, Balu transformed the IT and Digital landscape at TVS to try new business models and grow the Automotive Aftermarket business. A 360 approach, having led IT business systems in diverse areas – manufacturing, finance, sales and distribution, market research-enables him to see a fusion of sound business understanding and technology expertise. Spanning over three decades, he has worked for Tata Motors, HUL and Unilever in a global role. He was part of the core group that set up Global shared service centre in India for Unilever. And the team to formulate and implement a Strategic IT plan. He worked as Head of IT in Unilever Indonesia and as Regional Client Services Director in Unilever Asia Africa. His edge comes in heading transition & transformation teams for multi-country, multi-discipline IT service contract implementation.
